Helidon Spa Water Company

The Helidon area's indigenous name is 'Yaraba', after the Kurrajong tree that grows in the area. The indigenous people of the time valued the effervescent mineral water that bubbled to the surface springs. They believed it to have healing properties but drinking it was forbidden.

The settlers of the area also valued the precious resource. The Helidon Spa Mineral Water company was first registered in 1879. The earliest photo print from this era depicts two men and two bores flowing freely with run-off eroding the bare soil in the foreground.
